Coupaw Cares - Meal Donation

As of August 2014, Coupaw.com was acquired by GreaterGood, which operates the highly charitable Animal Rescue Site™, and works to raise funds for many charity partners through various online actions. This recent acquisition allows the two organizations to join forces so an even greater impact can be made on the growing pet industry across the United States and Canada. In celebration of this great union: going forward, every order placed on Coupaw.com will provide 6 meals for rescued animals in need – that’s 6 bowls of food!

GreaterGood, operator of The Animal Rescue Site™, acquired Coupaw.com during the month of August in 2014. Together, Coupaw.com and GreaterGood are working towards a better future for animal rescues, starting with a monumental charitable donation. For every purchase made on Coupaw.com, 6 meals will be provided for rescued animals.
Whether you purchase one of our great subscription deals, or a brand new item on our site, every single transaction made on Coupaw.com will provide 6 meals for rescued animals.
Glad you asked! Every meal equates to one bowl of food. Specifically, one pound of food provides 4 meals for Dogs and 6 meals for Cats. So let’s say 50 different customers purchase one of our deal items: that potentially means 300 meals could be provided to these rescued animals in need!
Coupaw.com, together with Rescue Bank (a GreaterGood program), will arrange for the collection, transportation, and redistribution of donated pet food to animal rescue and owner retention groups across the US and Canada.
Rescue Bank is a fantastic program that operates on the national food bank model, and provides donated pet food to smaller, independent animal rescue groups.
Rescue Bank partners with animal welfare and social service organizations throughout the US, and Canada, to establish equitable distribution. This way, no organization or channel of need receives fewer meals in the process. Together, they are raising the standards of animal care, with eminent focus on successful delivery of pet wellness, adoption, and owner retention services.
Any rescue group or animal welfare organization can visit rescuebank.org, and click the registration link on the right side of the page. Rescues that meet the program’s standards will be notified when food is available in their area. Approval time can vary from a few days to a few weeks, depending on the number of applications and verification steps required – not such a bad thing when we’ve got a lot of meals to donate! And all fees are waived in the application process, so long as your group is approved as an eligible recipient.
Rescue Bank’s donors have established standards for animal care and shelter operations, and must address issues such as tax-exempt status, spay/neuter policy, respect for quality of life, and adoption programs. A full description of these standards can be found on the Rescue Bank website.
